A new floor is an investment you want to enjoy for years. With the right maintenance, PVC, laminate and parquet stay beautiful and last longer. These tips will get you started.
Daily and weekly care
- Vacuum or sweep regularly with a soft brush
- Wipe PVC and laminate with a damp (not wet), well-wrung mop
- Use a cleaner suitable for your floor type
- Remove stains immediately so they cannot set
Prevention is better
Stick felt pads under chairs and tables, place an entrance mat at the door and lift furniture instead of sliding it. This prevents scratches and wear spots. A made-to-measure entrance mat also keeps sand and moisture out, the biggest enemies of any floor.
Parquet: occasional extra attention
An oiled parquet floor needs maintenance oil periodically; a lacquered floor can be re-sanded and refinished after years. This keeps the wood nourished and protected so your parquet lasts for decades.
